Dear All,
Just a reminder that the COG monthly meeting is on tonight at
8pm at Canberra Girls Grammar School. Details of speakers and presentations are
in Gang-gang.
As usual, a raffle will be held and drawn at the conlusion of
the meeting. Tonights prize is "Creatures of Air, Land and Sea", produced by the
Natural History Museum, London and presenting some of the illustrations
held in the Museum of the work of the pioneering British natural historian,
William MacGillivray (1796 - 1852). The book also presents a commentary on the
work of MacGillivray who was Professor of Natural History an Aberdeen University
and who was also a close friend/colleague of the American John James Audubon,
whose name is synonomous throughout the world with bird paintings and
conservation.
Raffle tickets cost $2 each or 3 for $5 and will be on sale
from about 7.30 til 8.00 at the door from the ever-delightful Esme. So come
along tonight, hear some terrific speakers and give yourself the chance to own
a fascinating and interesting book!
For anyone wanting to join COG or renew membership and who
hasn't downloaded a Membership Application/Renewal Form from the website (www.canberrabirds.org.au), dont
despair. I will have about 100 blank Forms on the Sales Desk - so please just
help yourself. You can pay your 2007/08 membership fees at the meeting too. If
the Membership Secretary and the Treasurer aren't available, I
will happily accept your Form and cash/cheque at the Sales
Desk.
Regards,
Bruce Ramsay
