Philip, Red-rumped parrots are one species that are around the NW end of Chapman/Cooleman Ridge in much greater numbers since the fires.  Before that I used to see them only occasionally.  They seem to roost within the suburbs as if you get to the cnr of Hindmarsh ands Eucumbene Drives early (just after sunrise) you can see them (sometimes up to 70-80 birds) flying out to the paddocks.

The Adventure Playground in Kambah is one spot where I also use to see them regularly in reasonable numbers when children were smaller and used to visit there.
