It is a fortunate thing that the races of the
Silvereye are not regarded as species and listed separately in the GBS Chart.
Picking a flock or individuals as Silvereyes is easy. However to differentiate
and attempt to count the two forms and maintain separate tallies every week of
the year would be quite difficult. If that was the chore, the data available on
them would be limited because many would not be recorded, as people wouldn't be
able to identify each in often fast moving flocks. That said, it is nice to
occasionally have the opportunity to differentiate them. I have rarely seen the
Tasmanian race Silvereyes at my home in Kambah.
