At 10.45 this morning, Gordon Playing Fields were supporting a
bird population consisting of 2 Magpie, 7 Magpie-Lark, 4
Eastern Rosella, 19 Starling, 22 Crested Pigeon, 2 Australian Raven and 202
Galah.
A little later on, Kellys Swamp and its immediate surrounds
revealed 10 Grey Teal, 20 Black Duck, 2 Black Swan, 9 Coot, 12 Purple Swamphen,
8 Dusky Moorhen, 2 Masked Lapwing, 1 Straw-necked Ibis, 2 Magpie, 1 Kookaburra,
1 Yellow-rumped Thornbill, 9 Superb Fairy-wren, 1 Red Wattlebird, 2 New Holland
Honeyeater and 5 Dusky Woodswallow. No sign of the Cattle Egrets and
Black-shouldered Kites which have been present in recent weeks.
At Pt Hutt Crossing, the Murrumbidgee is full ie water
bank-to-bank, and flowing quite quickly. No birds at all on either the river or
its banks.
