I had a similar experience about a fortnight ago at Princetown (on the Great
Ocean Road - west of the Otways in Victoria) - the flock I saw was well in
excess of 500 - and was preceded and followed by smallers flocks of 20s or
so. They appeared to be heading west along the coast away from the Otways
A truely amazing sight - even the group I was with (who were not
birdwatchers) were impressed.
