I was wondering about "digesting on one
leg". I have read or heard somewhere that some raptors keep bits of
unused prey held in one foot tucked up inside their feathers. I think
what I heard was about hobbys (what is the plural of a proper name ending in
'y'? - hobbys or hobbies?). Does anyone know if this sparrowhawk is just
digesting or might have another bit of finch in its claw, and if this mooted
behaviour is true or not?
Needless to say I loved the pictorial accompaniment - well taken!
