Maybe they were not Australian birds at all but just a bit of film or cgi animation that they spliced in from anywhere. It happens all the time with bird sounds. If you believe the TV, you would think the Red-tailed Hawk occurs everywhere and all monkeys sound like chimpanzees!
 
I can't interpret  that picture as White-headed Pigeons.
