I went out to the old sewage works at West Macgregor this morning between about 9.30-11.30am.  The paddocks surrounding the works were teeming with birds, including 4 Zebra Finches, 1 White-fronted Chat, 6 Diamond Firetails, 20 Dusky Woodswallows, ‘heaps’ of Yellow-rumped Thornbills, 50+ Crested Pigeons, several Pipits and Skylarks, 7 Goldfinches, 10 Red-rumped Parrots, etc.  Nearer Cannan Crescent there were about 10 Double-barred Finches and a pair of Scarlet Robins.  2 YTBCs flew over. Only about 30 species in all, but good numbers of many.

I saw Yarden who said that he and Steve had seen 2 Zebra Finches in the first paddock near Cannan Crescent – it seems highly probable that these were different birds to the 4 I saw over on the southern side of the sewage works.

Regards

Frank
