Two sightings today of adult WB Sea
Eagle (possibly the same bird) perched in the willows overhanging the
channel running from Jerrabomberra Creek towards Molonglo Reach/Duntroon,
whilst overhead an immature Sea Eagle was being hassled by a
raven. At least 100 YF Honeyeaters passed over the same stretch of water
heading roughly south in the 30 mins. or so that I was there. Also seen
were lots of Silvereyes and Superb Fairy Wrens, along with WB Scrub wrens,
European Goldfinches, Aust White Ibis and Straw necked Ibis. A single
Australian Shellduck seen on the shore at the extreme eastern end of East
Basin. Whistling Kite, Rufous Whistler and Eastern Spinebill also
heard. Lots of Black Ducks, Wood Ducks, Darters and Cormorants but there
was no sign of the Nankeen Night Herons and Great Egrets I have come to expect
in this area.
Yesterday while paddling Yarralumla Reach I counted
at least 32 YT Black Cockatoos emerge from the tall trees near Acacia Inlet
heading towards Yarralumla.
Cheers
