I went out to Goorooyaroo at 4.30pm until dusk, in the hope of finding the
Pied Butcherbird. I tracked down a pair of dueting Grey Butcherbirds, one
of whom flew to a branch 2-3 metres above my head. It looked down at me
and, when I asked where it's Pied cousin was, it let out a series of
flutey notes that sounded distinctly like laughter to me - I think it was
taking the mickey ;)
