Busy with head down, planting garlic, yesterday I heard the noise level from the three local magpies increasing in volume until I just had to look up and see what was going on. About 30 metres overhead a wedge-tail was serenely circling despite tentative but noisy mobbing from the locals. It stayed for about 2 minutes then gradually eased away to the east. An absolutely magnificent sight in the conditions. Added to the grey shrike-thrush fossicking in our trailer the previous morning the Bird Chart looks great this week.
