Yesterday afternoon (Friday) I decided to retrace my usual wander from Kambah Pool to where the power line goes over the river, at which point I sat for 20 minutes. During that time I watched on the far side of the river, so about 1 km distance from me, a pair of kestrels and five either Collared Sparrowhawks and / or Brown Goshawks (at that distance quite impossible to be sure of which) all circling around pretty much the same spot for about ten minutes, except that the kestrels only appeared when the hawks were out of my sight. By the way they were flying I thought they may be catching aerial insects like grasshoppers or beetles.
