Greetings: I am drafting a response for COG to this new Plan and again I
invite COG members and others to provide their views. When I sent around an
email re this in January, there was very little feedback (except for some
comments on possible habitat improvements, swamps, marshes etc).
The general thrust of the Plan is that conservation is the priority, not
providing recreational open space with facilities in the reserve for
residents from the adjacent urban areas - which we agree with.
I am particularly interested in more views on habitat enhancements, possible
enlargement of the silt trap/billabongs area/Kellys and the issue of the
Griffin Legacy wetlands park proposal, the upgraded cycle path route,
development of the Shoveler Pool area/hides/track, near Molonglo Reach (in
the original Man Plan but never progressed), any need for improvements like
new bird hides, new walking tracks etc, strategies for feral animal
management (we think not strong enough), control of water flows.
cheers
Jenny
