I'd been hearing a couple of reports of a pair of Blue-winged Parrots on
Mt Ginini. Having now talked to one of the observers I'm confident there
has been a pair of Neophemas, probably B-ws, over the past couple of
weeks. They have been seen on more than one occasion and by more than
one observer, the last time last Sunday. They have been faithful to an
area by the road, a km north of the Mt Ginini summit turnoff. However, I
spent an hour and a half there early this morning and came away
disparroted.
A couple of lyrebirds calling very high up (at least 1600m), the
inevitable roadside quail-thrushes, 9200 Flame Robins (approximately)
and a wombat hurrying home before light were some compensation.
good luck!
