I walked through this area today and was astonished at how many birds there were around. They seem to have spread further towards Sullivan's Creek than I remember as well as being many more nests than two years ago. It was certainly easier to see them from Lady Denman Drive than I remember in the past. The noise was such that I am surprised that Ian can't hear them from home! (I was also going to comment on the aroma, also being evident in Turner but I suspect that may be less to do with the cormorants and more related to the dozen huge carp someone dumped on the bank of the Creek!)
Amongst the LBCs was one darter nest. I'll submit a photo of that to the gallery when we get our ADSL connection!
My reason for visiting LBG was to walk around West Basin to do a bit of research for the tour. There is more to be done, but in this element of the route I saw 46 sps and heard another 4. Given that I had few birds that I rate as other than common and dipped on a number that I do rate as common species I think a group should manage to get 60sp at least if the weather is reasonable.
Martin.
