In Dec Susan Robertson sent details to this list a few pages of notes titled "Bird Watching at Gypsy Point and Mallacoota".  I had the opportunity to visit the area last week and was suitably astounded by the accuracy of Susan's notes in relation to the Double Ck Nature Walk.

I saw, at the car park, Azure Kingfisher (1), Scarlet Honeyeater (2 or 3), Beautiful Firetail (1), Koalas (2) and on the walk Rufous Fantails, Black Faced Monarchs, and very quiet Lyre Birds (2) at close quarters ie 3m.  and lots of other birds that were fairly routine.

By the way, for those that know the waterways of Mallacoota lakes,  there was a large seal (estimated by me at 2m long) a few kms downstream of Gypsy point.  It would be about 10 from the ocean.  An impressive sight in amoungst the water skiers.
