Hi all,
The Hobby nest across the road from Callum Brae is active again. I started
getting suspicious after Julian Robinson and I saw a Hobby perched in Callum
Brae with prey in its tallons on separate occasions. This time I saw the
male flying to the nest and feeding the prey to birds at the nest. I have
attached a photo which shows two of the birds. I think the bird on the right
is an immature. While watching them I thought I could see and hear a chick
in the nest being fed as well. Does anyone know if it is possible for a
Hobby to have two generations at the nest at the same time?
Thanks,
Nick
PS: Later in the walk around Callum Brae I also saw a Hobby dive bombing a
Brown Goshawk which was flying away rapidly.
PPS: I also found Aust Grebes in the fenced dam
