Second time lucky. Last Sunday we walked in
to Mulligan's Flat seeking out the Blk He but had no luck.
Yesterday we road mountain bikes to the 'line of
trees' and then spent an hour or so looking, looking, this time with great
success. Saw 2 males and a female in a non-blooming sapling only about 2
metres from the ground. Had plenty of time to watch them as the 2 males
looped into the air but returned to the same group of bushes. We also saw
many other bird species around the '3 dam' area, also Egrey, echidna, many
rabbits and hares. No raptors. It was quite windy but an enjoyable
excursion.
On the way home we visited Kingston foreshores but
no luck with the drongo. The area around the oval and along the lake
edge is strewn with litter. Sometimes I think development of such places
is the lesser of the 2 evils.
Regards to all birders
