There was a lot of activity at Mulligan's Flat Yesterday morning. In
addition to the species detailed in Sue Lashko's report I recorded:
White-necked Heron; 1
Australian Shellduck; 1 male
Australian Hobby; 1 male and 1 female aerial displaying and dive bombing me!
Little Lorikeet; 6 flying over in twos
White-winged Triller; 2 family groups with begging young
Scarlet Robin; 1 female
Southern Whiteface; 4
Little Friarbird; 5, including 3 juveniles.
In a tight group of several large yellow Boxes that were flowering
profusely in the southwestern corner, I enjoyed watching a large
aggregation (75+ individuals) of Superb Parrots. Amongst them were
many juveniles. The resident Noisy Miners were extremely upset with
the presence of the parrots but equally ineffective in their attempt
to repel the intruders.
