Hi!
In regard to the calling of Koels around Canberra. This morning while
strolling through the local park I heard "Teww" call of another cuckoo the
Horsfields Bronze
Cuckoo this was quickly followed by another "Teww". Of course I immediatley
thought, " Oh!,
goody, two Tewws". There was if fact 3 adults & 1 immature of these
cuckoos in the same tree and I'm almost positive that 2 others flew away as
I looked up. Which leaves the questions of, (1)do they form loose flocks
regularly?, (2) when the nesting season is finished or almost finished and
gather for migration back to the mainland?. Remembering that this is in
Tassie which had a nearly had no spring and is in drought,or was this just a
lucky event?.
cheers

Hi all.
Thought it might be of interest that we had a male common koel singing in
our
backyard at 8:00am this morning. (Feakes Place, Campbell)
All the best,
Adam
