That is a whole debatable issue. I don't and
generally I suggest not to. I'd go with the advice of the COG brochure as
quoted. However birds are mobile and there are so many people putting out seed
that I'd suggest many parrots, cockatoos, pigeons & sparrows could get
most of their requirements in some suburbs simply by going to each of the
feeding stations within their home range. Especially I suggest don't feed meat
that attracts currawongs and similar things. Don't feed honey. I believe that is
illegal. There are not that many honeyeaters in Canberra in summer for them to
need supplementary feeding. There are flowering ironbarks around (at least in my
part of Kambah).
