I thank Geoffrey for his memory of where matters
had got to with the Orienteers. I also thank David Rosalky for mentioning
Google Earth, because that stirred my brain into trying another Google product
"Google Maps" of which I have heard very good things.
You can get at Google Maps from the "more" link on
the Googe homepage or by clicking on http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/options/.
Following one's nose through the product, and selecting the "satellite" I got
the map of Mulligans (may my hair turn grey if I ever use the name "Mullies"
again) shown in the attachment. Steve has confirmed that the dam
immediatey below the text box is the site in question.
Of course, the fact that Steve's textual
decsription was good enough to allow me, at about 15,000 miles distance, to
identify which dam he was citing does call into question whether the map has
actually added to knowledge. However perhaps those less familiar with
Mulligans than your humble (?) servant might find it useful.
Drat: I have just noticed the file name and the
mirror confirms that greyness has arrived.
