In extremely windy weather yesterday afternoon I pedaled out to the hotspot
in the eastern section of Mulligans Flat. I wasnt expecting much due to the
conditions but did find a few birds.
20 Superb Parrots. Of which 16 were in 1 flock heading south to
Gungahlin at 6.10pm with the other 4 birds hanging around the large dam.
This is the greatest number I have seen this season.
9 Little Lorikeets. A dense flock zooming around the tree canopy and
earlier resting in a massive Yellow Box affording the best views I have
had of this species.
20 White-browed Woodswallow. Numbers seemed to be down although they
could be lying low due to the conditions. I re-found 1 nest with 2 eggs
and 1 nest with 2 recently born nestlings, as they were huddled together
with eyes still shut.
Also White-winged Triller, Brown-headed Honeyeater, Sacred Kingfisher,
Mistletoebird, Dollarbird and a Fox in sedgeland by the large dam.
Cheers
Marnix
