In the Broulee area in recent years, I have seen
Red Wattle-birds feeding a young Koel and Magpies feeding two fledged
Channel-billed Cuckoos.
HANZAB: There are lots of hosts. For
the Koel, mainly Magpie-larks, Figbirds and the larger honeyeaters (Miners,
Wattlebirds, Friarbirds etc). For the CBC: also many species but mainly
Ravens and Crows, Currawongs, Magpies. Amazingly, for the CBC, HANZAB
includes raptors such as the Collared Sparrowhawk and the Brown Falcon. Do
raptors actually raise cuckoo young?
