At 5.15 this afternoon from Bittern Hide no Little Bitterns unfortunately but good close up views of Glossy Ibis. Nothing unusual about that but across the water directly opposite were five black fluffy Purple Swamphen chicks being fed be three adults. Chick would approach adult who would nip off a stalk of grass, hold it in a foot and proceed to bite off baby sized pieces to feed to said chick. The three adults were working hard satisfying the hungry mouths when one walked across the moat to get some peace and quiet. It was spotted by two chicks who rapidly swam after it.for more tucker.

Never seen Swamphens acting in such harmious fashion before and their social life has risen in my estimation.
