Today (8/11) I wandered around Kelly's Swamp for an hour from 5pm. Highlights were a pair of Greenfinches, 2 Baillon's Crakes and 1 Spotless Crake - all in 'crake alley'. There were some 13 Cattle Egrets among the cattle in the paddock by the car park (5 in breeding plumage) and a pair of Little Corellas were hanging around too. The Glossy Ibis is still present near Bittern hide. I couldnt find the male Turquoise Parrot reported by Vikki Gibson this week. It may have moved on.
The pair of Greenfinches briefly perched in the top of a banksia, calling, then flew to the dead willow behind 'crake alley' and then took off in the direction of Kingston.
Cheers
Marnix
