Rosemary, I would assume that your sighting is probably a first for the
spring. Personally, I regard this species as highly elusive (ie I've
never seen one in Canberra!) and I would hope that anyone sighting this
species in Canberra (as opposed to the ranges) would let me and others
know, via the COG list. If you see this bird again, or others see
Cicadabirds elsewhere in Canberra, please send a message to the list as
soon as you can.
