I spent this morning visiting woodland areas in the Sutton-Gundaroo area and the afternoon in the south around Tharwa. Highlights were 9 species of parrot for the day including 8 Superb Parrots at Gundaroo and 3 Superb Parrots in Sutton (1 male feeding 2 begging juveniles) and 6 species of raptor. There are currently large numbers of
White-browed Woodswallows (WBWS) in the Sutton-Gundaroo area but not a single Masked Woodswallow was seen all day. Over 60 WBWS at Majura Lane, 60 along Back Creek Rd and 70+ at Nelanglo Creek breeding, plus over 20 in the Namadgi Visitor Centre car park (as previously reported). I saw many
White-winged Trillers, Rufous Songlarks, White-throated and Western Gerygones, Tree and Fairy Martins, Brown Treecreepers
, Restless Flycatcher, Jacky Winter, Varied Sittella, Rainbow Bee-eaters, Sacred Kingfisher, Diamond Firetail,
Hooded Robins, Peaceful Dove at Nelanglo, a female Australian Shelduck along Yass River Rd, a pair of Little Eagles at Nelanglo, several Brown Falcons
, a Hobby at Tharwa, 2 Wedgies near Sutton, several Pallid Cuckoos, Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoos at Majura Lane and Nelanglo Creek, 4 Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos
at Gundaroo, 5 Little Corellas in Gordon, 2 Gang-gangs at Back Creek Rd, a Pacific Heron, a Great Egret, a single Stubble Quail
at Ingledene, and so on...
Cheers
Marnix
