This bird was found in Hughes not far from the oval in Webster St immediately after the fires in January 2003.

So, it may have been forced in to the suburbs by the fires... but then again, it may not have.

At 8pm last night I briefly saw a nightjar. It was about size of wattlebird, had long squarish tail and long narrow wings.
I saw hawking over the cycle way along Yarralumla ck and it disappeared through eucalypts at the end of Macalister Cr, Curtin.
I distinguished it for Owlet Nightjar by shape and size alone.
