I am just wondering what brings on this line of comment, starting with Geoffrey. Has someone seen one about the place? I am not that familiar with these birds any more. When I kept finches and that is 30 years ago, it was the Madagascar Weaver that was the common one. Also the names given to birds in the avicultural scene are as fluid as the various official and popular names of wild birds. There are indeed many of them at the Canberra Walk in Aviary (Gold Creek Village near Cockington Green). I think there are at least two of the weaver species held there. Also interestingly, the Peking Robin, the only ones I've seen in Australia. As well as as many different combinations of hybrids of lorikeets that you could ever hope (or not) to be confused by.
