After
some folks had left the group towards the end of the walk as we walked back to
the western car park we also saw a large flock of Red-browed Finches, a pair of
Crested Shrike-tits, a Richard’s Pipit and a large group of Welcome
Swallows, Tree Martins and Fairy Martins.
Thank you Sandra for your report, and
thanks to everyone that turned up on the day.
Anthony

beginners walk 6 Aug
thanks
to Anthony Overs for leading a beginners' walk at Lake Ginninderra, on a
beautiful day for such a walk. Much appreciated!
Like
some of the others who are just learning, I was interested to find out that
wood ducks nest in trees - we saw a pair very actively investigating some
likely hollows. Good views of a gang-gang also a highlight for many.
Other
birds seen on the walk:
Waterhens,
Moorhens, Coots
A pair
of domestic ducks - not usually worth mentioning, but having a coot, a quite
tame duck and a waterhen standing side-by-side enabled Anthony to point out the
differences in their feet to the very new birdwatchers in the group
Crimson
rosellas, Eastern rosellas
Grey
shrike thrush
Pacific
black ducks
White
plumed honeyeaters (in abundance)
Little
pied cormorants and great cormorants
Black
swan, red wattlebirds, magpies, magpie larks, fairy wrens, silver gulls
