Now that more people are snapping away with their digitals, I might draw attention to the advantage of the new media in catching interesting behaviour rather than just the still shot.  The camera can reveal action that is virtually invisible to the eye.  Here are two examples that involved less than a second.  In the first an adult WB Woodswallow challenges a juvenile Masked for possession of a cicada.  The juvenile holds its ground and retains the catch.  In the second a male Hooded Robin feeds an insect to a Pallid Cuckoo chick.  Some intervening frames have been omitted in both examples.  Of course the images are only ‘video quality’.
