For those who aren't aching to cleave the peaceful waters of Lake Burley G
with a one-hundred horsepower propelled prow and who don't read the Canberra
Sunday Times- take a bouquet of Wahlenbergia gloriosa in your
right paw for the former, in your south paw, a bunch of Pyracantha blossom for
the latter- now,

According to ACT Tourism Minister Andrew Barr, Canberra needs to ditch the
focus on motor sports and look to other attractions to bring in visitors
("Tourism needs to put brakes on cars", July 26, p3).
While Andrew is in this frame of mind, he may well like to convince the
National Capital Authority to reverse its decision to allow power boats on Lake
Burley Griffin, and forestall what many see as the next retrograde step- jet skis.
Should Andrew achieve this, thus ensuring our lake's peaceful amenity and
continuing role as an important haven for wildlife, his approval rating would
reflect electors' approval.
