I didn't pick up any red on the bills either. When
we saw them last Sunday only one bird was visible while we were counting ducks
etc on ponds 4 & 6 for 20 minutes or so. I didn't pick up the 2nd bird at
all, even with a scope, until a Little Eagle flew over and put everything up.
The 2 were then seen together on pond 4, had me half wondering if the 2nd bird
could have been on a nest, although I'm probably being rather optimistic. More
likely it was tucked away in the reeds, preening or resting.
