Dear All,
I have had a pair sometimes three grey Butcher Birds in my Mackenzie St Hackett garden consistently for 18 months they are seen daily at my compost...neilther magpies nor Currawongs perturb them, tho Noisy Mynas see them off though...they certainly bred last year brought two young around, one is still with us,expect the same this year...given their name,do they in fact impale prey on thorn bushes like the English Shrikes,I remember our whole school being traipsed miles along country lanes by our fanatical Head Master to see such a larder as a boy?at the time he seemed a silly old buffer....
