During the past week, male Common Blackbirds in our Holt yard have emerged from their winter hiatus and are tearing about after one another like they're establishing spring breeding territories.

A friend from Sculin phoned today to report a Grey Butcherbird in his garden, sitting quietly in a paperbark tree. I went there at 4pm and it was still present. Rather unusual in a suburban garden?
