Yesterday afternoon I watched an uncouth currawong land on the letter box and regurgitate a large, messy food pellet. As I went to sweep away the dross I noticed it contained a red rubber band, about 75mm long and 6mm wide. It was one of those bands postal workers use to secure bundles of letters, and postmen often drop them on the nature strip. Maybe Dimwit the Currawong figured it had some kind of resilient, flat red worm.
