Well David, the answer is yes. It is still worth
going to look at though. Bush regenerates quite well. As for Satin Bowerbird, well you can come and have a look at my
compost heap in my backyard. Last week I had about four of them but none so far
this week. Most suburbs around Weston Creek and west side of Kambah would have
lots of them (well - twos or threes) in the vicinity of most gardens. Maybe not
every day. As for Lyrebirds well I thought at last count there was only one left
in the whole of Tidbinbilla. Chris Davey & Peter Fullagar organised those
surveys. I have been to Kambah Pool several times this autumn. All years up till
winter 2002, they could be heard singing from across the river but I don't think
any have survived. I haven't heard them since.
