Seen this morning, the first DF I've found at
Campbell Park, although I'm sure I remember someone else reporting some there
earlier in the year.
It was in woodland near the triangular dam,
apparently associating with a largish feeding flock that included Buff &
Yellow-rumped Thornbills, Weebills, Grey Shrike Thrush, Golden Whistler and a
pair of Scarlet Robins. I spent some time watching it, and then scouted around
the area but couldn't find any others. It was presumably a fairly young bird
with a pinkish rather than bright red beak, although the rest of the
plumage looked like an adults. I'm not sure how long it takes for the beak to
colour fully, I think for Zebra Finches it's a few months. Perhaps the new
volume of HANZAB has this info, unless the page has been
exterminated.
cheers
Steve
