Your comments are quite correct. As shown in the
GBS Report, the average group size (number of birds per observation, for the
bird over the 21 years of the GBS is G = 1.19. So most observations are of one,
with a sprinkling of two, three, etc. More than that is unusual but I wouldn't
suggest 5 to 6 to be unprecedented.
