I think you mean Clark N (1993). A Canberra sighting of the “Italian”
sparrow. CBN 18(1): 1. And it was the University
of Canberra, not the ANU, but it was
outside the Union

House Sparrows
On the subject of current comment about possible sightings of
Italian House Sparrows in Canberra, I recall an item that appeared in Canberra Bird Notes, maybe ten or so
years back (I no longer have my earlier CBNs),
that described a bird, not unlike an Italian House Sparrow, on the ANU
campus. Stretching the memory a bit more, I think it was in the vicinity
of the Union Bar area. Maybe it was picking up
pizza crumbs(!)
