Dear COG observant people,

I am hearing of an increase in bird pox virus that shows up as lumps on feet and legs and sometimes on faces of magpies, currawongs, choughs and some other birds.

As you are all out and about observing birds I would really appreciate it if you could report any sightings as it is a contagious and a notifiable disease.  So far we have had reports in the northern suburbs of Hall, Belconnen, Nicholls and Giralang.  One report came also from Hughes but has not been confirmed.

Please let me know at work on

Thanks,

Marg Peachey
