My thanks to all those who participated last night with such enthusiasm,
and with such tolerance of my inexperience of such things, reflected in
part in the later end than I'd intended. My thanks too to those who have
made kind comments today.
One apology for an idiocy that I perpetrated last night, in an obvious
moment of brain torpor. I realised it today as soon as someone gently
queried my assertion that Linnaeus named the cassowary for Casuarina. It
was of course the other way round, as I've told people on numerous
occasions! After a late night session CL decided that the hanging
foliage of casuarina resembled the hairy plumage of cassowaries, which
had been named for some time, from Malay according to the Oxford. It
didn't effect any outcomes last night, but I hate misleading (at least
inadvertently...).
Now I must resume trying to earn a living, which seems to have gone by
the board somewhat of late!
Back to bird-watching now - cheers all!
Ian
