Benj Whitworth and myself spent yesterday exploring Tallaganda State Forest and Tallaganda National Park.
Nothing exceptional, but some interesting sightings, among the 35+ species:

- Black-faced Monarch (3) - Axle Rd and Lowden Forest Pk.
- Lewin's Honeyeater (4) - Rocky Pic Rd and Axle Rd.
- Olive Whistler (1) - brief glimpse along Tower Rd.
- Pilotbird (1-2) - brief glimpse along Rocky Pic Rd.
- Crescent Honeyeater (10) - present in most fern gullies visited.
- Wonga Pigeon (1) - Black Range Fire Trail.
- Rufous Fantail (1) - by pond along Tower Rd.
- Shining Bronze-Cuckoo (1) - Lowden Forest Pk.
- Superb Lyrebird (3) - one in full song by Rocky Pic summit at 1250m.
- Southern Whiteface (2) - outside Hoskinstown.

The only reptiles spotted were a Southern Water Skink and a dead Tiger Snake. Plenty of Sword-grass Browns (butterflies) in the moist gullies and we found a tall example (70-80 cm) of a Hyacinth Orchid (Dipodium sp.) along Bald Hill Fire Trail.

Cheers
Marnix
