Sounds
like a Willie Wagtail. Not the usual phrases in the call though. They can call
all night if there's moonlight.

birdsong experts,From: Jochen Brocks [ Sent: Monday, 28 November 2005 2:47 PM To: Subject: [canberrabirds] RFI nightly birdsong in Narrabundah there is a bird calling at night (from 11pm) in Narrabundah near the shops. It is sitting in a european tree. As I have a progressed form of birdsong-Alzheimers, I just can't identify it. It is also not on the Birdsongs of Canberra tape. However, I have attached a WAV file with a record of the song. After recording the sound under the tree, I played it back to myself to see if the recording was successful. However, the target bird must have heard that, too, and it became reeeaaallly excited, calling lounder and faster. But why? Is it calling for a mate or is this a territorial song? Or neither? I am sure most of you are familiar with the song, and I would be grateful to learn which bird it is and why it is calling at night.
