The diamond firetails are still at Dunlop/Jarramlee, along with trillers and woodswallows. I also visited Uriarra Crossing yesterday. There was a lot of activity, mostly magpies. I heard a hooting noise at the end of the Uriarra East carpark but was driven back by a dive-bombing magpie. Making use of my car for protection, I drove the 30 or 40 metres - the things I do for a hoot - but it was worth it as I spent some time in a staring match with a frogmouth perched only a metre and a half up, just off the asphalt. I also saw a dollarbird, sittellas, woodswallows and a possible little eagle. Maurits Zwankhuizen
