In the region of the Innovation Centre at UC is a family of 20 (2 adults plus 18 young) woodducks.
These seems large even by woodduck standards and I am wondering if some might be adopted.
I heard rumours of a large family about a fortnight ago but only located them today.
Most of them look about a fortnight old but:
the one on the left and three on the right are definitely smaller and give the impression of younger.

Is there anything in the literature on the subject of adoption?
