A little footnote to a trip report I have posted on Birding-aus about a trip to New South Wales NSW. On the way back there were some items of more Canberra-interest, so I thought I'd post them here.

Do people know about the beautiful remnant riverine vegetation along Bland Creek north of Stockinbingal. The road follows the creek and the woodland is just lovely: yesterday we saw Superb Parrot, Red-rumped Parrot, Grey-crowned Babbler, Jacky Winter, Peaceful Dove, Sacred Kingfisher, Jacky Winter, Whistling Kite and Apostlebirds along there.

At Jindalee I was surprised to see Grey-crowned Babblers in the far nw corner of the western block (the sheep paddock along the Temora road). I have never seen them here before, and was amused to see them engaged in a boundary dispute with the White-browed Babblers. I wonder can the two spp co-exist?

And finally to repeat something in my other trip report. I was surprised to see Shelduck in a paddock just west of Temora. Never thought of them as extending inland at all before.
