On Sunday dropped by Lake Ginninderra penninsula. I
wanted to check out the Native grassland.
Saw 2 pairs of pipits and 2 male skylarks displaying.
One male skylark was immature, with a smaller crest and less developed song. I
wonder how long they take to become adult.
Interestingly I saw a Horsfields bronze cuckoo calling
in the middle of the grassland right near the pipits. Do they parasitise pipits?
I dont remember reading that, my field guide is at home
today.
Also 2 dusky woodswallows were displaying on old
Lambs-ear heads. Also about 12 tree martins.
