There are already considerable numbers of YFHE and WNHE in the ranges to the west. I saw plenty in the Brindabellas along Warks Road and at the northern end of the Tidbinbilla Range along the Jedbinbilla Fire Trail yesterday. And today at the National Gallery I encountered large numbers in the eucalypts as well as the single Yellow-tufted and odd Fuscous.

Unfortunately many of the roads (including Namadgi section of Warks Rd and all of Blundells Ck Rd) in the ranges are either closed due to the damage sustained from the bad weather some weeks ago or too muddy after this weekends rain. I came across one ute with young trailbikers which had gotten itself bogged near Condor Camp.

Flame and Scarlet Robins were also common on the barren fire affected slopes below the ranges on their return migration.

Cheers
Marnix

Just spotted the first YFHE of the year fluttering around with the spinebills at the bottom of the garden.
